Miami 133: the new concept by Kurt Strand designed in the pandemic times

The Norwegian designer has imagined an explorer yacht also good for emergency operations, in areas hit by a hurricane, earth quakes, fires or even a virus outbreak.

California-based Norwegian designer Kurt Strand has released his latest Strand Craft concept, for a 133 mt long, 20 mt wide explorer yacht named Miami. He said the idea for this yacht when the Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas (in September 2019): for this reason, Miami is designed to handle the most extreme weather conditions and can be transformed into a rescue vessel for emergency operations in disaster areas, hit – for example – by a hurricane, an earthquake, fires or even a virus outbreak.

Two tenders, two offroads, ten cars…

But of course the concept wants to be much more: it is the ultimate explorer yacht for active-lifestyle and adventure-seeking billionaires who want to bring with them all their toys and friends.
The aggressive styled six-deck Miami features a 360 degree all-round view sky bar where the owner and guest can enjoy the most breathtaking nature scenery views 20 meters above the water surface.

Two large helicopter pads, one above the aft deck and one on the fore deck, sport their own heli hangars accessed via elevators. We also said of the toys which follow the owner: what about two 58′ high speed tenders and two Mercedes G 6×6 offroad trucks…fun is guaranteed.

Accommodation is for 20 guests across 10 cabins, including the owner’s 300 square meter suite with a 180-degree view on the sea, outdoor Jacuzzi, sun lounge area, gym, spa, office, library and wine cellar.

Other features are an owner’s salon with bar, and special display for 10 supercars. The most spectacular interior feature is a three-story nightclub with glass floors.
The crew quarters, including cabins and a living area, will sit on the lower deck and will accommodate a staff of 44.

Strand has designed the yacht with an environmentally-friendly propulsion system of three electric azipods powered by hydrogen fuel cell generators, for a top speed of 20 knots. Miami will also feature a diesel backup genset and salt water batteries for power storage.

Still on the environmental side, she will also boast a full “vegan” interior, with vegan leather similar as the used in the new electric Porsche Taycan car. Then again, wide use of reclaimed wood and no rain forest wood, environmentally-friendly interior and exterior paint systems. recycled steel, aluminum and plastics, and solar panels to catch the sun energy.

According to Kurt Strand, the cost of building Miami 133 will be around 700 million US Dollars.
