Astondoa presents the AS8, a new yacht with a long tradition behind

The 100-year-old shipyard launches Astondoa AS8. A traditional, 25 meter flybridge yacht with refined taste and some unconventional solutions.

It’s always good to have the launch of a brand new yacht. Even more, if she comes from a shipyard with a long tradition. It’s the case of the new Astondoa AS8, which has just been launched at the company’s premises close to Alicante, Spain.

Chose your space

The new AS8 is 82 feet long (but the important LH is below 24 meters), with a look which is a combination of the sporty inclination of the aft pillars and T-top mounts, on one side, and the solidity given by the large glazing, tall superstructure and protective bow handrails on the other side.

A long and wide swimming platform grants access to the cockpit via two side staircases. The layout of the cockpit is unusual, with two back-facing couches, two round tables and a glazed balcony towards the transom. Two side passageways with a step at half length, and carbon fiber handrails take to the bow area: a big, steel A is the company’s logo but also serves as a backrest for the small seat, under which are the mooring cleats, to keep the look as clean as possible.

The large flybridge of Astondoa AS8 features a tanning area with freestanding sunbeds, a long bar / kitchenette and an L-shaped table for eight. The helm station to port is sided by a second couch to starboard.

Inside, the design of S8 has conceived a seven-meter-long salon, with lounge area followed by the dining table. The area is flooded with light thanks to the mentioned large glazing, while the partially separated kitchen cabinet has large front windows for the same reason. The space is partially shared with the inner helm station, in an interesting kind of conviviality.

On the lower deck there are four cabins and up to 12 bunks, with the choice of two layouts for the master room. All cabins have en-suite bathrooms and plenty of storage space. And another two cabins for the crew complete the sleeping quarters.

Fine materials are used everywhere on the yacht: these include white lacquers, matte wood panels, refined fabrics and leather panels with grey beige gradients, hand-made on site. The bathrooms sport high ceilings and transparency in steel and glass that enhance the sensation of spaciousness.

As for the propulsive section, Astondoa AS8 comes standard with twin Man V12-1600 hp engines which take her to a relevant top speed of 32 knots. Shouldn’t that be enough, the shipyard offers also the choice to go for twin Man V12-1900 hp.
