The Fjord family gets bigger with the introduction of Fjord 48 Open, new flagship of a range starting at 36 feet.
“Muscular, athletic, powerful and provocative”. That’s how Fjord shipyard defines the new 48 Open. Sure it’s the right terms for a boat whose peculiar design is a core point. She’s going to become the flagship of the yard’s lineup, which starts with 36 Tender and 36 Open, passes through the 40 Open, and gets to the sport cruiser 48 Open.
The designer Patrick Banfield did an excellent job on this boat, measuring 15.20 by 4.80 mt (49 ft 10 x 15 ft 9 in). The tall gunwale and the seaworthy hull grant comfort and performance in any sea condition. The deck boasts a hard top above the pilothouse and the wet bar (which can be equipped to become a proper galley).
Abaft the dinette is alternative to a large solarium hiding a tender garage underneath, featuring a sliding electric mechanism for launch and haul, while the swim platform can be electrically lowered below water level. To fore, another solarium is accessible through large and safe side decks.
Belowdecks the Fjord 48 Open features large spaces, as in a luxury yacht, Two roomy cabins, both with en-suite and shower box, can be replaced with a larger master, a VIP and a single bathroom.
The propulsioni s on three Volvo Penta IPS 600, 435 HP each, which allow to break the 40 knots barrier for a total fuel consumption of 252 lph. At 32 knots, which is the suggested cruise speed, the diesel burns at 104 liters per hour.
