GoFree now on multipurpose screens Simrad NSS Evo2, NSO Evo2

Simrad, leader in technological solutions for navigation, confirmed that GoFree wireless will be available on their multipurpose screens Simrad NSS Evo2 and NSO Evo2.

The GoFree “cloud-enabled” technology allow users to receive the software updates directly on the screen. They can then be installed choosing the preferred language. One of the new and interesting features is the GoFree Shop access straight from the main page of NSS Evo2 and NSO Evo2: the Simrad customers have the chance to purchase, download and immediately use maps, whether “Insight” or from any other GoFree partner.

The GoFree technology gives access to Insight Genesis as well: a free software that allows users to create their own coastal and territory maps, using the data coming from their Simrad echo-sounders and chart plotters. GoFree is also a portal for the Insight Genesis community which collects and shares data from all the users, in order to make available tons of information about inner and coastal waters allover the world.
Leif Ottosson, CEO from Navico, said: “With the addition of the cloud-enabled GoFree technology on our Simrad NSS Evo2 and NSO Evo2, we turned around instrumental navigation. Our customers will have the chance to download maps and updates straight on their boats’ devices, with the certainty that they are using the most recent and precise tools available”.

In order to enjoy the GoFree technology it’s necessary to install the last software update. With a 3G, 4G or wi-fi internet connection it’s enough to access the GoFree Shop. A Simrad WiFi-1 wireless module is also required.
