Launched in Cannes, the new Sea Ray 510 Sundancer European version follows the introduction in the States, two years later.
It’s a matter of fact that European (and Mediterranean in particular) boaters have slightly different preferences than American ones. That’s why Sea Ray, when debuting their 510 Sundancer in Cannes, went for a European version: the strongest way to state their will to conquer the taste of Old Continent customers.
The features of Sea Ray 510 Sundancer
The new 510 Sundancer European sports a salon with large glass doors, to create what the boatyard names a “sun room”, with ample side windows and a lot of light flowing in. The new version is enriched with linen curtains, light-shaded joinery, and luxurious fabrics and leather.
A long L couch to port serves either as a lounge or as a seat to the dining table. The latter can be lowered for tea time or be dismounted and stored. The TV is fixed to a tilting stand which eases it to the salon or the cockpit. The mentioned glass doors that divide indoor and outdoor spaces can slide open to have a continuous space. The cockpit itself boasts a second, teak table: in this case the lowering mount helps creating a large solarium, which can be sheltered by the optional, electric awning.
Down the five-steps of the companionway (standard in aluminum, optional in steel) there’s a second lounge area where the couch turns into double bed. The galley features a full-height fridge, while a big TV and a Bose system (with optional sound bar) complete the entertainment. Upon request to the yard, the area can be replaced by a third cabin.
The standard layout sees a VIP room to bow with a large locker layered internally in cedar wood: it is said to be the best against moths. The bathroom is also the day toilet. The master cabin stays amidships, and features mirrors, TV, Bose system, en-suite with shower and WC. The basin and the mirror cabinet are in view.
The wide swim platform, with optional hydraulic lift, can host a pram or a jet-ski and offers an easy access to the cockpit, helped by the (once again optional) gangway which retracts into the steps. On the foredeck, two sun beds turn into chaise-longues for another lounge area.
Sea Ray 510 Sundancer is 15.49 mt long (50ft 10in) and 4.47 wide (14 ft 8in), for a displacement of 19.6 tons. The powertrain consists of two Cummins QSC550 Diesel, 550 HP (405 Kw) each, with Zeus transmission. To complete the long option list there’s joystick controls and skyhook system.
