MC Yacht International introduces Nemo 44 as the first project of “sport utility yacht”. But wil that be true?
One could wonder why Nemo 44 has been dubbed “sport utility yacht”. All the good and the bad has been said about SUVs, but nobody can deny that they created a new segment of cars combining four wheel drive with large space and luxurious finish. As for the yachts, what else can be said of most of them if not that they combine marine capabilities and luxury…? And speaking of the Nemo 44, it surely doesn’t need to surprise with monikers that recall automotive successes. You can tell it’s a nice yacht even from the first renderings.
Nemo 44, the joy of navigation
Designed by Fulvio De Simoni, Nemo 44 is a 44-meter aluminum yacht created by MC Yacht International for the French shipyard Ocea Yacht, and the first uniti s ready to be built. Over 300 square meters of open space, a 25-sqm beach club, a proper pool, Jacuzzi, floating slides and water toys: onboard Nemo 44 everything is designed to give her owner the chance of enjoying a luxurious and relaxed lifestyle. Covered and indoor spaces include a 30-sqm loggia, lounges, wet bars, a 75-sqm master suite with his- and her- bathrooms, a gym, and up to five double rooms with private en-suite.
The aluminum structure both for hull and superstructure allows for a gross tonnage under 500 tons, which along with a relatively contained length give the freedom to sail around the world and reach the most uncontaminated places on the sea, with the amenities normally found on units over 60-meter long. On the contrary, Nemo 44 is designed to be powered by two relatively small engines, for a whole power of 2800 HP that allow to top 16 knots in fast displacement, with a cruise speed around 12 knots and a range of over 3500 nautical miles.
