At the big international boat show in Germany, Sea Ray had just a share of their large line-up, but it has not hindered the strong sale results.
Forty-six boats sold, including three new models that the American manufacturer was exhibiting as world preview in Düsseldorf.
American building expertise, Mediterranean flair, smart sale strategies…we can’t say what exactly triggered Sea Ray towards such a good result. Probably, a fair combination of all these factors. In addition, and one of the strongest advantages for the boatbuilder, is the huge range of different models, spacing from small bow-riders to large cruisers in the new L-Line, the family of products launched right this year in order to renew the luxury motoryacht line-up.
Such a wide choice gives more chances to capitalize the attention from a larger public, also considering that Sea Ray is one of the few American shipyards to design boats according to the taste of the different markets where they are going to sell them. So, the crafts sold in Europe are more oriented on our habits.
The best examples are the Sundancer range and the first two models of the L-Line, L-650 and L-590, which also got a Nomination for 2016 European Powerboat of the Year award.
Based on the same idea it’s the three Düsseldorf world debuts: 250, 280 SLX and Sea Ray 400 Sundancer.

Now, if you take a look at the new 400 Sundancer you will realize the many factors that make this American boat a perfect craft for the Med: fashionable look, interior atmosphere, refined joinery with wide planks for the floors, the color patterns in brown and beige shades, the grill cabinet before the swim platform, the swim ladder…
Even on smaller boats the appeal remains the same. For instance on the 280 SLX: the care in the finishing, the aft couch turning into sun bed, the cockpit layout, the amount of stowage lockers and the head “concealed” on board…all these factors follow the same design input.
So, if it’s true that Made in Italy is appreciated all over the world, also Made in Usa makes much sense, when it’s realized with taste and care.
