Quicksilver Activ 755 Cruiser: feeling good variations

With Quicksilver Activ 755 Cruiser the boatbuilder, part of Brunswick Group, brings to the market a craft which treasures the consolidated know-how bringing it to new paths.

Why Cruiser and not Sundeck? If you wonder why, it means that you know Quicksilver pretty well, and especially how they work on well-defined guidelines. Point is, with Quicksilver Activ 755 Cruiser some of these paradigms are mixed, so be it this choice to develop a new concept of boat, which enhances the cruising spirit through a bright cabin and well organized open spaces. Much credit goes to the hull as well, as our double test explains.

Quicksilver 755 Activ Cruiser: the deck

Quicksilver 755 Activ Cruiser starts a new design trend, making habitability and versatility as her strong points. Two large swim platforms on the sides of Mercury Verado outboard lead to the cockpit, where a grill / wet bar can house also a refrigerator. The dinette can be set to sit six or turned into a solarium, while the driver has a single seat facing a sporty, dark dashboard. On the foredeck there’s space for a second sun lounge, accessible through the middle part of the windshield.

Quicksilver 755 Activ Cruiser: the rest

The glazing along the topsides and the on the bow deck transform the cabin into a cozy space, proper of larger boats. environment than seven meters in length would imagine. There is also room for a separate heads, and the double berth can accommodate two people with a discreet comfort.
The good quality of the finishing is enhanced by some touches like the console in front of the passengers or the teak decking featured on one of our two test boats.

Quicksilver 755 Activ Cruiser: the test

As we said this is a double test. The first on a flat lake, the second in the rough sea of Southern Italy. Different boats, same engine, a Mercury Verado outboard developing 250 HP and matched to 15″steel Mercury Enertia three blades propeller. Similar performance in different sea conditions point out the validity of the hull and confirm the data from the boatyard. And, if we can trust the yard themselves, their further sea trials with other engines tell of a top speed of 43 knots with the Verado 300, but also indicate half the fuel need of this latter unit with the smaller F150: 53 liters per hour. The Verado 200 could be the best compromise (35 knots and 70 lph), although any unit will range from 35 to 40 lph in the real cruising conditions of 25 knots. During our test on the lake I also find the minimum planing pace, which is 9 knots at 2600 rpm for 12 liters per hour.
It is though on my second test that I could really put the hull to test. First, I had to “taxi” for several miles looking for a sheltered bay where to find the top speed. Then, when at war, Quicksilver 755 Cruiser shown all her seaworthiness: the hull has faced a rough sea with waves from allover, returning the feeling of extreme safety, the one you have when you know the boat is under your command. And when a sudden wave generated a strong thud, the response of the whole structure was sturdy with no creaks whatsoever. I would have skipped the whole spray-shower part, but a hour-long test in these conditions doesn’t happen every day, and Quicksilver 755 Cruiser has passed it with full marks.
