The shipyard is known for units dwelling in the 60-meter range. Alia Yachts 16 m instead is a fast dayboat, built with the same approach, and now a bestseller of the brand.
The request, initially from 2014, came from a customer, an “important” person who approached Gökhan Çelik of Alia Yachts: he wanted a 16-meter fast boat, for day cruises, built with the same care of a superyacht. So, the founder and chairman of the Antalya-based shipyard approached Bill Dixon Design in the U.K., which has a strong track record in the powerboat sector, to develop the naval architecture, exterior and interior design of what would become Alia Yachts 16 m.
They want more
Bill Dixon soon realized that what was missing in the segment was a rigid hardtop that comfortably covered both the helm station and the cockpit. So they came up with a design that took the main salon and galley out on deck, but covered by a large fiberglass hardtop which shelters from the sun.
In addition to the kitchenette behind the pilots seats and the dinette, Alia Yachts 16 m has ample outdoor spaces, and despite the aforementioned hardtop there’s plenty of room for sunbathing too with two solariums, fore and aft.
Below deck, a second galley pairs with a spacious double cabin with en-suite, while a second cabin under the cockpit sports two separate beds. Needless to say, Alia Yachts used the same attention to detail which is found on their superyachts.
Powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS 600 units, the boat has a top speed north of 35 knots, but the builder says it can reach 40 knots with bigger engine alternatives.
But the relevant thing is a further one: after releasing the first unit for the client, Alia Yachts 16 m was seen and appreciated and two more were sold in quick succession: this, although the product has never been properly marketed as the shipyard continues to focus on superyacht projects. Were not enough Alia Yachts is currently in discussions with an American client for a fourth unit and fielding other inquiries from Europe, South America and the U.S.
Sometimes, the product itself is the best marketing strategy.
