With the new project named Jet 2020, Codecasa Shipyards merges the worlds or water and air. An impressive look for a luxurious 70m megayacht.
“A one-of-a-kind creative explosion”: these are the words of the shipyard in defining the project Codecasa Jet 2020. Sure they sound impressive, but we can’t deny that impressive is also the adjective that comes to our mind when looking at the first renderings of the megayacht. And even more impressive, Codecasa Shipyards stated that they want to launch her on the market.
Not the features of a jet aircraft
Water and air meet in the project, which transfers on a yacht some stylistic features borrowed from the aviation. The concept comes from Fulvio Codecasa’s insight and hand, and wants to break the mould of the typical lines of the maritime tradition. The result is is a vessel that has never been seen before, with clean and minimal lines.
The forward section of Jet 2020 features a solid and rounded shape recalling the cockpit of an aircraft, which opens like the bow of a cargo to give access to the mooring area. Moving abaft, the central body is like a fuselage with a sundeck that should measure 20 by 10 meters. It sports all comforts and facilities required to live the sea in total relax, such as a 6x2m swimming pool, sun beds, and a covered gym.
The sundeck extends until the aft section, which develops vertically in a solid shape, which once again recalls the tail of an aircraft. There, the beach club, at the sea level, is served by a lift and connected to a hallway and a skylounge, with 3 meters of headroom and large glazing: it houses the salon and the main dining room at the sun deck level.
An area on the main deck is reserved to the owner’s suite, while guests are accommodated in the four cabins on the lower level. Crew quarters are located here as well, in the forward section. Another lift connects the three decks and reaches up to the bridge deck, which features the pilothouse and the captain’s cabin.
From the technical point of view, the new Codecasa Jet 2020 is still being finalized, but the shipyard says she will be certified by the most important international Classification Societies and Flag Authorities, such as the Lloyd’s Register and the MCA
Codecasa Jet 2020 also boasts a helipad for a chopper of medium/large size, and an area for two tenders on the sides: again, the air inlets here mimic the ones of a jet engine.
Further elements coming from the aircraft realm are the radar antennas, which will be installed inside carbon fiber domes, in the typical style of the AWACS airplanes (models built by Boeing for surveillance and recon purposes).
From the technical point of view, the new Codecasa Jet 2020 is still being finalized, but the shipyard says she will be certified by the most important international Classification Societies and Flag Authorities, such as the Lloyd’s Register and the MCA, to ensure that the discovery of new horizons is always done in safety conditions.
According to Codecasa, the building most probably will begin in the first half of the year 2020.
