Faithful to their names, Boston Whaler 220 Dauntless and 250 Dauntless emphasize their versatility for boaters who want to have 360-degree fun.
When you think of Boston Whaler Dauntless range, you know the main point is their multitasking capabilities. Now, the brand has introduced two new models which allow their owners to cruise fast, go fishing, enjoy watersports, and more.
Dauntless, in name and nature
Both the Boston Whaler 220 Dauntless and 250 Dauntless sport a 18-degree deadrise, with a hull designed to return predictable feelings and a stable ride even in choppy conditions. Despite the size, especially for Dauntless 220, boaters can safely head offshore, as the build quality is that of an “unsinkable legend”.
The helm station on each boat includes a Mercury SmartCraft deluxe gauge package and an optional Fusion stereo with JL Audio speakers, then just move forward and enjoy the bow cockpit. Here, 220 and 250 feature a spacious sitting area with armrests and cup holders; the seat lifts open to reveal a large storage compartment with space for multiple rods, buckets, PFDs and more.
A must-have feature on a Dauntless is the optional All-Activity Tower, which has a casting platform, watersports tow point, and ski and wakeboard racks.
This means fun, especially when you can have some performance. That is why 220 and 250 Dauntless use Mercury outboards (Boston Whaler is part of the Brunswick Group, like Mercury Marine). Power choices, up to a single 250 hp motor for the Dauntless 220 and a single 400 hp Verado for the 250, provide enough acceleration and thrust for water sports and pure piloting fun.
And for a full day at sea, each Dauntless features an enclosed compartment in the console with a portable head.
Incredible machines: here’s the new Boston Whaler 325 Conquest and 405 Conquest
For anglers, which are presumably most of Boston Whaler Dauntless’ owners, the Dauntless models deliver enhanced fishing capability, thanks to their open layout and an array of features and options. In the bow area, there’s rod holders and a forward fishbox with overboard drain.
Midship, a leaning post is available in several configurations, including a reversible pilot seat with a 32-gallon (121 liters) livewell.
Aft, the stern deck is now flush, rather than stepped up, with port and starboard jump seats that offer ergonomic comfort and fold out of the way when not in use.
Additional features of the 220 Dauntless include:
- Port and starboard aft casting platforms
- Optional T-Top or fiberglass hardtop with rod holders and watersports tow point
- Mercury power options up to a 250-hp XL V8
- Optional freshwater shower with 12-gallon tank
