Sunreef Yachts has won the UIM Environmental Award, bestowed by Union Internationale Motonautique. The shipyard’s in-house engineered solar power system has been voted as the most innovative green motoryacht technology.
Who says motorsport is not about environment? Beside the “green” championships with electric cars / motorbikes / boats, a good part of the R&D money that Companies invest in racing are towards more sustainable solutions.
On the other side, the world governing body of powerboat racing, the Union Internationale Motonautique UIM, wants to award also yacht builders that stand out for environmentally friendly solutions. The UIM Environmental Award has got to its 11th edition, and actually although it’s awarded in 2021, it is intended for 2020. And for this year the winner is Sunreef Yachts!
_So, to be fair and amend our title, we should say that Sunreef Yachts has won the 2020 UIM Environmental Award.
The Sunreef Yachts Eco solar power system is the only composite-integrated photovoltaic technology in the marine industry. Engineered by the Sunreef Yachts Eco R&D office, it allows to integrate solar panels with all curved composite structures for an energy efficiency unrivaled in the yachting world.

The UIM Environmental Award recognizes outstanding environmental leaders or organizations that have excelled in inspiration, vision, innovation, leadership and initiatives to the benefit of the Environment.
