Columbus Liberty 33m, scheduled to debut introduced at 2015 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, marks the beginning of a cooperation between Columbus Yachts and Marco Casali with his Too-Design Studio.
The Columbus Liberty 33m is being built at Palumbo Group shipyard in Naples, Italy. It’s the first unit of a range of fast trawlers 25 to 38 meters. “Feel free” is the payoff, as the main concept behind the design is freedom itself.
Freedom of cruising at the desired pace, as the hull can either face long navigation at 12 knots, or fast transfers at over 20.
Freedom of enjoying large spaces, thanks to an innovative layout: no upper deck, lower height for better stability and seaworthiness. The design aims to offer a large “blank surface” to the owner, who will follow his personal taste. Of course, Marco Casali and Too-Design Studio will support with all the desired suggestions.
In particular, the aft area features a dinette under the flybridge overhang, a wide solarium and a crystal jacuzzi (with sea view…) on the swim platform. Of course, this space can be fitted with a more traditional garage for tender and sea toys.
Abow, another large area boasts a well-protected dinette, useful to relax and gather with friends when docked in port.
Belowdecks, the layout can vary and offer three to six guest cabins, the owner’s suite being abaft (or, in alternative, on the main deck with front-facing view).
Palumbo Group is born in Naples in 1967. At the beginning they work as small carpentry and welding service for commercial vessels. Nowadays, at their third generation, they are one of the largest groups in the mid-Med, and they still belong to the same family. The group counts a construction site for yachts in Naples, a commercial vessel shipyard in Sicily, and two more yards in Malta, for vessels and superyachts. Latest acquisition is another site in Marseille, France. With the Columbus brand, Palumbo has four maxiyachts in construction, including the new Columbus Liberty 33 mt, the second unit of the Hybrid Sport, a 57 mt of the Classic Line range, and a 70 mt. The first three will be launched by the 2015 Cannes Yachting Festival, the larger one will touch water within September 2016.
