Quicksilver Activ 755 Weekend, a boat for the whole year

Don’t be fooled by her name: Quicksilver Activ 755 Weekend is the prefect craft for a year-round use.

Boats like Quicksilver Activ 755 Weekend, rather small but with a comfortable cabin, are not anymore a prerogative of the northern Europe markets.  Livable yet affordable, they are more and more appreciated also in the Med, where the Quicksilver 755 Open is already a bestseller.

Quicksilver Activ 755 Weekend: the deck

The winning feature of Quicksilver Activ 755 Weekend is exactly the one we mentioned: being a boat for the whole year. The superstructure is quite big if compared to an overall length of 7.40 meters. Some color “tricks” dissimulate the height and make the look quite sleek and the interiors bright enough.
A sturdy guardrail protects the passageways that lead to the well-sized fore solarium. As the space is not unlimited, we appreciate the anchor winch located under the flooring.

In the cockpit of Quicksilver Activ 755 Weekend the whole available space has been used smartly: the back bench slides longitudinally and stops in three positions. The foremost one allows to fully lift the outboard and enjoy the swim platform. In addition, a solarium is obtained by connecting the said bench with the dinette table, with some easy maneuvers.
The mid position works to serve the dinette, while the third one leaves the cockpit fully clear and will be appreciated by the anglers, who can then access to the lockers under the floor. What is a bit trickier is how to manage the port bench, whose length (and cushions) vary according to the position of the main one.

Quicksilver Activ 755 Weekend: interiors

I mentioned already the bright interiors, which is matched by a perfect ventilation thanks to the sliding windows on both sides. In order to create an “open” effect, we would have preferred a larger sunroof.
The kitchenette to starboard is well-sized and features a single-hob stove and the sink. To fore, the helm station sports a dashboard large enough to fit a GPS, while the engine info come from two round Mercury gauges. The dinette on port side hosts four guests, who will find accommodation belowdecks in two cabins. The one abow is ample enough for the kind of boat, while the second is good for two kids or little more. The head is a separate space, but doesn’t feature a sink.

Quicksilver Activ 755 Weekend: the test

Monfalcone, Northern Italy on the Adriatic sea. I’m aboard Quicksilver Activ 755 Weekend exiting the port. Along the channel I appreciate the livability and the pleasure of cruising at slow pace: good news for the anglers.
My Quicksilver Activ 755 Weekend is powered by a Mercury Verado 250 HP with Enertia 14” screws. Inboard propulsion with sterndrive is also available, but it doesn’t seem to be the right choice for such a boat. In case you want to vary, you can take into consideration different powersteps for the outboard.
I get into plane in 4.5 seconds, and to top speed in 18. The maximum pace is just shy of 35 knots (with trims up 4 notches). The cruising speed of 20 knots keeps the engine running at 4000 rpm, and using 40 liters per hour of fuel. If you want to go frugal, slow down to the minimum plane, 11 knots at 3200 rpm, and sip just 24 lph.
The best quality of Quicksilver Activ 755 Weekend is the steadiness in sharp turns, with the hull that seems to be on a rail track even at top speed. While accelerating to plane, the nose doesn’t pull up much so visibility is always good. To confirm the general good impressions, I cross my wake and observe a soft and smooth impact on the waves.
