On May 13 and 14, two events in Asia and Europe will introduce to the markets Absolute 58 Fly. This new 17-meter flybridge steps into the mid-hi range of the shipyard, who actually counts on nine models with sun deck spacing from 40 to 72 feet.
Beside the sheer size, there’s many features of this new Absolute 58 Fly which will be appreciated allover the world, from Europe to the Americas to Asia.
So, in order to christen this new yacht, two “Absolute Weekends” will take place at the same time: one in Hong Kong (by Marina Cove Club in Sai Kung) and – more important for Med boaters – another one in Sistiana (Trieste, north-east Italy) on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 of May, event that will allow potential customers to test her upon appointment. Both events will be live-broadcast, thus showing the launch of Absolute 58 Fly on both continents.
The presentation in Italy is an important signal, which underlines a new momentum in Absolute’s home market. But this is just the beginning, because the yacht will also be on display in the most important international Fall boat shows: starting with Cannes and Ft. Lauderdale, where she will launched as a 2018 novelty.
Let’s then discover the features of the new flybridge by Absolute. First is the exclusive method of construction called ISS (Integrated Structural System), adopted on all shipyard’s latest models: the hull structure is strengthened across beam and length by a multi-axial reinforcement grid, to which then the reinforcing elements of the bulkheads, floorings and ceilings are connected, in order to form a monolithic and self-supporting skeleton of the whole boat. The advantage is a greater structural solidity, which consequently leads to a reduction of noise and vibration, and gives more longevity to the product.
New boat, new engines. Absolute 58 Fly is offered with two Volvo Penta 600 HP D8 with Ips 800, introduced by the Swedish manufacturer at the end of 2016. We will be able to tell you the real performance after our test in mid-May, for the moment the figures from Absolute declare a cruising speed of 26 knots and a top of 32. Beside speed, the adoption of Volvo Penta engines allow owner to get in the world of Easy Boating that characterizes all the latest Volvo Penta products, designed to strongly facilitate the management of the boat, both at sea and in port.
On board Absolute 58 Fly
According to her layout, Absolute 58 Fly can be dubbed the yacht of “comfort and companionship”, as both the flybridge and the main deck provide numerous sofas, living areas or settees where to relax.
On the flying bridge, an imaginary longitudinal line splits the space for the helmsman and the one for the guests, although they are well connected to each other in the front area of the deck, leaving additional free space to the back to be set up with freestanding furniture.
Moving to the main deck, the first convivial area is the cockpit, which is furnished with a dinette and integrated abaft by a further sofa facing the swim platform. This is the ideal place to be outdoors while remaining under the shelter of the flybridge overhang. The latter is supported by two structural poles which, in my humble opinion, should undergo a style redesign, in order to give an extra touch to the exterior look of the boat. The open air relax is total on the foredeck, with a peninsula sun bed and a C-shaped sofa abow.
As for the saloon, the dining area is located to aft and consists of a dinette faced by the galley, which develops along an L-shaped cabinet with loads of free space where to stand; given the position, it is also handy for serving meals in the cockpit. To bow the proper living room features two large sofas, and if – as I suspect – the interior volume of the new boat will honor the typical Absolute design, the space will certainly be significant.
Taking a look at the interior furnishings, oak joinery alternates light and dark shades depending on the color matches with the upholstery of sofas, ceilings, head of beds etc. all of which are in faux leather.
We finally move below deck of Absolute 58 Fly, with a layout proper of a larger motoryacht thanks to the IPS propulsion which moves engines to the back, gaining more space for the cabins.
Of the three rooms with en-suite, the master is of course the largest, taking almost 50% of the available space. Then there’s a Vip one to bow, where the clever arrangement of the bed allows to earn good walking space around the bed itself; and a third cabin with twin beds which can be joined into a double.
