The new Simrad autopilot can do much more than keep a route: it allows easy access to a range of embedded maneuver patterns to support users in fishing, diving, or simply to allow them to perform a “U-turn” in a simple and effective way. For even better control, boaters can customize these maneuvering schemes to perform complex spirals, zigzags and other maneuvers.
Equipped with an echo-sounder module that allows bottom tracking, the Simrad AP48 Autopilot Controller can also be set in auto-steer mode to maintain a constant depth below the boat, a perfect solution to track depth contours during an exit to game or cruise, without having to define complicated routes with multiple waypoints.
The new Autopilot Controller provides an incredibly wide angle 170° view and total access to Continuum Automated Turn Patterns, No Drift Steering and Depth Contour Tracking maneuvering features, plus a large aluminum control knob and dedicated dodge keys for easily reviewing and adjusting the route.
The Simrad AP48 Autopilot Controller offers users the same intuitive interface as the compact AP44, but with larger rotary control dial, dedicated buttons and more extensive keyboard controls. The knob provides precise control, while the dodge buttons allow to suddenly change the direction in increments of one to ten degrees to the rudder angle. Designed to give optimum control in all conditions, the large AP48 buttons are perfect for use with wet hands or gloves.
Thanks to simple on-screen activation, including docking and sea trial configurations, the Simrad AP48 Autopilot Controller offers an auto-tuning system to ensure the best self-steering performance. Automatic compass calibration is available with solid-state Simrad Precision-9, which simplifies the autopilot setup while ensuring the accuracy of the route.
