She is indeed. Because on one hand the brand new Pardo 43 enters the motorboating world with technology, charm and luxury. On the other hand, behind there is the hystorical Cantiere del Pardo, founded in 1973. We will see her at Cannes Yachting Festival.
You don’t need to be fond of sailing in order to know Grand Soleil, beautiful high-end sailing boats built in Forlì, Italy, by Cantiere del Pardo.
New boat and new brand,
but almost half a
century of epxerience
from the boatyard
The new Pardo 43 is the consequence of a business venture that has been in operation for 44 years in the sailing market, with over 4,000 boats sold to high-end customers: the same segment that the new Pardo Yachts brand is entering with this product.
And the features seem to be the right ones. It’s not just the comfort nore the quality of production, it’s not the look (peculiar, but not never-seen-before) or the performance (which we’ll soon see), but it’s a full set of big and small things which make up a whole project, signed by Zuccheri Yacht Design, destined to attract the attention of wealthy customers who are sensitive to the authenticity of a product and the singularity of its various features.
What you notice right away, or rather what you do not notice by looking at the external profile, is the large space on the lower deck. How many of you would bet that under the foredeck and the walkaroud cockpit there is two cabins and a bathroom with separate shower box?
Sure it the norm on a 13.5 m boat, but not so much so when the exterior shape is so sleek and essential. It is not the first project to have such characteristics, but it is always surprising how a good design can completely conceal the presence of a cabin. Of course, colors, materials and lighting can be customized both inside and outside. The deck is articulated on a walkaround layout, with tall bulwarks and teak flooring (synthetic teak is optional).
Given the open nature, perfect for day cruising, on this type of boat the bathing platform is a key element, that is why Pardo Yachts proposes several versions: short, long and submersible. Whatever the choice, to enhance relaxation or fun on the sea there’s two folding sections on both sides of the aft, to create another two swim platforms, which also expand the cockpit area. At the center of this huge space there is a nice sunbathing area and a storage compartment underneath that can also work as a garage for the tender.
Two sofas, facing each other with a table in the middle, form a dinette for eight people, served by a galley cabinet featuring stove, sink and fridge (options are a second refrigerator, coffee maker, ice maker, BBQ and induction hob).
Just above the kitchen is the aft section of the crystal T-Top, mounted on a carbon structure, while the front part protects the helm station. The latter featuring a huge dashboard where two large screens are compatible with any conceivable electronic instrument.
To complete the deck layout, there’s a quiet sundeck area to fore, protected by handrail all along its length on both sides. Another smart detail is the step to access the bow triangle when landing through that area or for mooring maneuvers.
Two Volvo Penta IPS
engines in a new,
advanced position.
Here’s why
The Pardo 43 features some peculiarities also in the propulsion department. The engines are the 370 HP Volvo Penta IPS500 (optional, 435 HP IPS600) but, despite what one expects, the engine room is not at the far end, but towards the center of the boat. This comes from designers’ calculations, aimed at moving the center of gravity and avoid excessive nose-up, bow without hindering stability, fuel consumption and planing speed.
From a technical point of view, the Pardo 43 hull is produced in vinylester resin using the infusion technique. It boasts a keel angle of over 50° at the front and a deadrise of 16°, making it a wave pierce, thus cutting the waves instead of passing on them. This means high performance and stability even with rough sea.
Save the date for the opening of the Cannes Yachting Festival on September 12, for the absolute debut of the new Pardo 43. Then, more boat shows and tests are planned, so get in touch with Cantiere del Pardo (here the details).
