New in 2018: Avon and Torqeedo launch the electric tender

The world premiere was held at the 2017 Cannes Yachting Festival and captured the general attention because, when it comes to electric propulsion, the hype is always high, were it boats or cars.

After being pioneer of waterjets in the nineties and having revolutionized the luxury tender segment with Avon brand for over 20 years, Zodiac Nautic Group is writing a whole new chapter in the nautical industry’s future: it’s the new Avon eJet powered by Torqeedo.

A proper luxury tender, with futuristic features

Together with Torqeedo, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of marine electric motors, Avon has developed this 100% electric tender that solves many problems to yacht owners: no more gas on board, no motor-oil change, no more annoying maintenance. Avon eJet promises excellent performance and reliability, and to confirm the solidity of the partnership Avon and Torqeedo have decided to further develop a full range of Avon eJets, available from 2019. The models will be equipped with 80 HP Torqeedo electric motors and the latest generation of 32kWh automotive batteries, the same used by the BMW i3. Based on the first tests, Avon eJet will guarantee a 90 minute autonomy in normal use, reaching a maximum speed of 26 knots.

A wow factor comes from the chance to update the software and perform diagnoses directly from the Internet (Tesla, anyone?): Zodiac Connected device will also allow users to monitor their real-time location, save routes, turn on lights remotely, control battery levels, and so on. As for the look, Avon eJet is made with carbon fiber and hypalon fabric, the upholstery is by Serge Ferrari with quilted finishes hand-sewn in France, and the handles are made of leather. But don’t worry as the whole range will be completely customizable on request.
