For Comitti it is customary to build fascinating vintage-style motorboats. This year, however, the yard based in Como, Italy has gone much further by proposing the new Isola 33 Comitti, which maintains the family feeling, taken on a boat inspired by sportfishers.
The fishing center-console boats have to be practical, with no frills but full of technical gear useful to all levels of anglers.
Comitti, however, wanted to give their personal interpretation and design a boat with the peculiarities of a sporfisher but with an added touch of class and flair.
In less than 10 meters,
Island 33 features a
livable cockpit and a
space belowdecks
finished with care
and elegance
The cockpit organized into two dinettes, one to bow, with the table at the center of a V-shaped sofa, and the other to aft, with two facing sofas and the table in the middle.
Having two outboard motors does not sacrifice in any way a large aft sunbath, which can be obtained simply by tilting down the backs of the two dinette sofas. The same solution works also for the bow, where the table becomes the center mount of another solarium.
The cockpit is developed around the beautiful console, well-studied in the arrangement of the instruments with extra room for two displays: in this case we have two Raymarine Axiom (here’s our test) of the latest generation. The pilot will also never be alone because the seat in front of the wheel is flanked by another two, one on each side.
Just behind, the kitchenette / wet bar features a teak top with the Comitti logo in the center, giving that extra touch of elegance which pleases the eye. The cabinet is fitted as standard with a sink and a 46-liter fridge, two gas hobs and a further 46-liter fridge are available as an option.
Also optional is a fabric awning, mounted on a fixed steel frame. Perhaps a fiberglass T-Top with a sunroof would be a better looking alternative, although it slightly increases the weight. What we love of this boat is the details: look at the small space underneath the control console, accessible through a (standard) electro-hydraulic hatch. The little cabin is fully lined with light joinery and sports a hiding WC and a crystal sink, plus enough room to use it as a dressing / changing room.
On the performance side, the new Comitti Isola 33 is pushed by two outboard engines in a range spacing from 2×250 HP to 2×400 HP. Just consider that with two 300HP Mercury Verados (here we talk of some of these american units), the boat has a maximum speed of 44 knots: probably even if you do not go for the top power, the boat is still very fun to drive.
