New in 2018: Glastron GS259 OB, the family cruiser goes outboard

The American boatyard (now part of Beneteau) launches a new version of their seven-meter cruiser. The difference for the Glastron GS259 OB is in the transom, not with outboard motor.

The choice between outboard or inboard engine is not always easy, in the segment of 25-30 feet cruisers: both solutions can have their advantages or disadvantages. So Glastron (among others) has decided to offer both the possibilities on their recent GS259. Second to be launched is then Glastron GS259 OB, and you can guess what those two letters mean.

Family, friends, fun

A single engine and a new swim platform are the main differences of this new model, whose other characteristics are shared with the inboard version, in both exterior and interior design.

It is a good boat for outings with family and friends, with the practicality and maneuverability of an outboard motor. She also features a very spacious and functional cockpit, where seating may be adapted according to use.

Outside, modular design means the freedom to adapt seating on board to a multitude of positions, for maximum enjoyment of time spent in the cockpit. Swimming is facilitated with a seating position facing the sea, as well as a transformation into a large sundeck. At meal times passengers can use he table and the central kitchenette. Inside, the layout has been designed for comfort and relaxation. The saloon transforms into a large V-berth, while additional features include a breakfast corner and an independent head compartment. To the aft, a spacious cabin houses a large berth for two guests.

As for the engine options, the inboard version with a similar displacement can mount units ranging from 240 to 300 HP, so the Glastron GS259 OB should stay in the same range: the photos portrait a Mercury Verado 300 unit.
