After the first, puzzling impact, the Barracuda 7 represents a new way of thinking the pilot boat. This new generation chooses to be multi-purpose, also thanks to two custom packs aimed to fishing or to pleasure navigation.
Deck: hail to versatility
The transom cockipt is almost two meters wide and 1,5 meters long. Two well-sized passageways lead to the foredeck with two benches and a seat. The area offers a hideout sunbed as well, via a rollout net whose practicality is yet to be tested. In order to facilitate access, the upper part of the companion can be lifted, but not locked. Below deck, the bunk is 190 cm wide and vary in length from 180 to 120 cm. It gives way to a large potty, measuring 80x80 cm.On test
The rough see could discourage even the most passionate seamen. The progression of the Yamaha outboard is good but, trying to remain close to the shore, it's tough to rev over 4,000 rpm. We heel a couple of times, so we have to give up. At 4,500 rpm though the shipyard declares a top speed of 32 knots. There's no power assistance for the helm, so in the tight turns it's easy to feel the moment generated by the propeller: nothing new for this size of boat.
