Cannes Yachting Festival 2018: Pearl Yachts introduces the Pearl 95 as a world premiere. One novelty, worth two: in addition to being a new model, it’s also the shipyard’s first step in the superyacht world. Exteriors and naval architecture are by Bill Dixon, interiors by Kelly Hoppen.
For their twentieth birthday Pearl Yachts went for a big self-present: they decided to enter the superyacht world. And they have done with a 95-foot semi-custom model that I’d dub “sparkling”.
Until now the British shipyard has built boats between 60 and 80 feet, and in the last two years they have renewed the range (with a 65′ and an 80′) relying on two big players in the field: Bill Dixon for naval architecture and exteriors, and Kelly Hoppen for the decor. The latter is not just an internationally renowned interior designer, but also a TV star, businesswoman, writer and more. The same duo has also worked on the Pearl 95, aiming at maintaining a strong family feeling with the other yachts of the brand but also indulging in creating an even more luxurious and gorgeous superyacht.
Multiply by three
The Pearl 95 has been designed with three different interior looks: the first is Luxury – the one chosen for hull number 1, featured in the pictures – has a very “glamorous” setting, playing with the continuous contrasts between glossy and matt. In addition, the polished and hand-polished nickel finishes enhance the space.
Then there’s the Taupe look, which best interprets Kelly Hoppen’s brand. It is light, fresh, with neutral and relaxing colors. A modern luxury with precious details such as inlaid metal inlays.
Finally, the Studio look, which is a cross between the previous ones and goes for warmer and inviting tones. As we mentioned, Pearl 95 debuted last September at the 2018 Cannes Yachting Festival. Her glass surfaces, marble, lacquered furniture, steel, mirrors made me define the yacht “sparkling”. I believe you will agree.
It is not that frequent on yachts
this size to have a master suite
with front-facing windows
over the sea and the horizon
In the evening, turning on the onboard lights, you can clearly and unequivocally perceive the amount of windows. Starting from the glass stripe on the lower deck that follows the line of the hull. The angular and modern shapes of this section are doubled in the forward part of the main deck.
The owner’s cabin on board the Pearl 95 is actually a master suite with a panoramic view. It is not that frequent on yachts this size to have a suite that features front-facing windows over the sea and the horizon. To bow, in addition to the outdoor lounge on the foredeck, there’s a huge sofa-sunbed that uses the vertical cut in the superstructure, designed to obtain the huge panoramic front window of the said owner’s suite.
The salon is flooded with natural light, and the full-height side glass doors (sliding, power assisted) cancel almost completely the separation between interior and exterior. The result is enviable, believe us.
Kelly Hoppen emphasized the connection between inside and outside, so that the onboard areas always feel airy and always face the sea.
On the lower deck there’s four guest cabins in the middle of the boat, while the crew quarters are abow. Upon request two guest cabins can “merge” into a full-beam suite with a walk-in closet and a large bathroom.
Both the side access to the galley on the main deck and the companionway leading to the crew area on the lower deck do not interfere with the spaces dedicated to guests: this was carefully designed in order to guarantee extreme privacy to the guests.
Once the tender, the jet sky and other water toys are deployed, the stern becomes a real beach club. But the final surprise is the two lateral wings, embedded in the hull, that hydraulically open and widen the space. Total relax is guaranteed.
Deep-V hull and a sporty, aerodynamic shape take the Pearl 95 on the fast side, at least on paper. Powered by two MTU 16V M96 delivering 2400 hp, she reaches 28 knots with a range of 380 miles at cruising speed (18 kn). As an alternative to MTU, there’s the choice of Caterpillar C32s (1925 hp) or MTU 16V M96L (2600 hp).
Don’t forget to go through all the photos of Pearl 95 in our gallery above, and check if you agree with our description.
