After the 60 model last year, here we have the new Sunreef Yachts 70, which confirms the choice for Volvo Penta ISP propulsion. Maybe it’s the space they require for docking, maybe it’s the habit for monohulls, but big cruising catamarans – especially if motor ones – have never held a significant share of the market. It seems like something’s changing though, and products like this Sunreef Yachts 70 can change the mind of more than one owner.
22 meters long, nine meters wide, it’s the inner space that really defines this motoryacht, whose livability and the economy granted by the double hull are the most peculiar points. Here’s some numbers: the living room, properly defined “salon” by the Polish shipyard, is 34 square meters, on a main deck of 89. 13 square meters is the size of the owner’s cabin while another 37 are available on the flybridge and 45 in the cockpit. The total area at disposal of the 12 guests is an impressive 213 square meters.
Propulsion is granted by two Volvo Penta IPS 900, with pods controlled by a smart joystick for easy docking in every condition. The engines are inline six, turbocharged 10.8 liters, with an output of 700 HP each. Two fuel tanks for a total of 16000 liters give an impressive range, also considering the better efficiency given by a double hull despite the 48 tons displacement. Another two tanks are for 2700 liters of fresh water and make life aboard as comfortable as ever even in the long haul.
